VISITING THE WILDLIFE OF ZOO NEGARA

School holidays finally arrived and the family decided to go on a mini adventure to one of Malaysia’s national treasures, National Zoo located in Kuala Lumpur.

Upon our arrival at the entrance, we were greeted by the hot blazing sun emitted its sunrays with no mercy with a little company of shady clouds. So, we were prepared with hats on our heads, water bottles in our hands to replenish ourselves and did not forget to apply sunscreen on. It was already crowded with tourists even though we left early at dawn to avoid the expected situation but it still did happen. I guess visiting Zoo Negara was a hot place to visit during the school holidays.

A little tip upon purchasing your entrance tickets, you could get discounts if you bring Aeon or Mydin member card with you! Oh, and don’t forget to bring your IC, you can’t enter without it.

Before we went inside, I snapped a photo of the ‘Zoo Negara’ signboard as an evidence that I've been there.

We went around by the entrance before we start touring and had our breakfast at their food stall. While on our way to the Zoo Negara Show Amphitheatre starting at 11 o'clock, we got a good look a diversity of monkey species that can be found in Asian countries. We also got to meet the rarest species of horse, the mini horse or also known as kuda kerdil! My little brothers grabbed this chance to snap some photos of it and were fascinated by how tiny this cutie horse is.

Following according to the zoo's schedule, a talent show will commence at Zoo Amphitheatre at 11 o'clock and we all went there as soon as possible to reserve the best seats. Alas, the seats were already crowded with tourists as fast as a lightning bolt strikes and we had to search for empty spots. Luck was on my side and I get to sit in the first row so it was a good chance to see the wildlife up close.

The animals were all well-trained by the trainers and performed an outstanding performance that took the hearts of the audiences. Doing all kinds of stunts made me realized that the animals have a good teamwork with the trainers that they were able to pull off such stunts impressing the audiences with cool moves. The crowd gave a big round of applause to the cool animals and we were able to enjoy the show with happy smiles on our faces.

Finally, we actually begin to tour around the massive place full of wildlife. There were lots of endangered species that couldn't be found anymore in the forest such as the flamingos, deer, giraffes, elephants, zebras, monkeys and many others due to deforestation, water pollution and more of human activities tearing down their habitats. It is such a heartbreak to see them only in the zoo as they were rescued from being extinct for good and lose their habitats that were once a danger-free zone from the human lives. It was a good thing to be able to see them live a good life with special care from the zookeepers.

Touring the whole day under the hot blazing sun made me quenched my thirst for water so I took a little break to sip some water on a bench. Finally, the most anticipating animal that I've been dreaming to meet is located in such cool, humid and fully equipped with air conditioners 24/7. It was none other than the panda from China. Because of the heat, I was more eager to go inside as fast as I could to cool off myself and with little excitement to meet the panda bear that could only be seen in the movie Kung Fu Panda with my own eyes.

Too bad the giant panda was in the hibernating mode so we couldn't see her being active playing around. Before we went inside, we were told by the zookeepers that we had to be very quiet as we go inside to ensure that we don't disturb the panda's condition and could only be there for around 20 minutes only.

Finishing off the tour by walking around the lake with a beautiful swan in the middle of it was a bliss to the eye. Never thought in the peak of my mind that I would be able to view such extraordinary scene that can only be seen in the movies. Seeing the birds flying above the lake made me realized that what a beautiful country that we have but not much appreciated by the citizens. Too bad that I didn't get to snap a photo of it as I was rushing to finish the tour because I was dead tired walking for so long.

After a long 5 hours touring just around the zoo made me feel like my energy drained out real fast like a phone battery yet it was worth it spending the school holidays outside being in nature and you get to learn about the wildlife too. It was such a great mini great escape from the hustle-bustling city and get to breathe in the greenery air.
